Paul Murphy, Founder & Lead Mobile Developer

Paul MurphyPaul is a seasoned software/database developer with an eye for clean and crisp UI. He has over 12 years of development, strategy and management experience in everything from front-end interactive websites to heavy database design and optimization.

Graduating from Queen's University, Belfast (Northern Ireland) in 2004, Paul received a First Class Honors, with a Masters in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. He was also awarded the BIC Systems Prize for Best Project in the Field of Computer Engineering. His paper, on electronic design schemetics with SVG, was published and presented at the SVG Open Conference 2004 in Tokyo, Japan.

After building up a strong development team at a local web dev firm, Paul left to form 3Advance in 2010 and his first iPhone app, for Ben's Chili Bowl won 1st in the Apps4Bens contest as part of DC Week 2010. Since then he has led the team to roll out successfu mobile and web projects for NPR, The New Republic, PolitiFact and Special Olympics International. He spoke at MoDevEast 2012 conference on Cross-Platform App Development Realities, and was part of the winning AngelHack DC team that will represent DC Tech in Silicon Valley in January 2013.


Darren Gibney, Lead Software Architect

Darren GibneyDarren Gibney has been developing professional web and database applications for 8 years. Darren is a firm believer in the theory that "if the only tool you have is a hammer then everything looks like a nail". Having hammered a few screws in his time he now constantly evolving to ensure he has the right tool for the job.

With a BSC in Business Information Technology, Darren's core competencies are with the Microsoft Technology Stack; Asp.net, Web Forms, Asp.Net MVC, Asp.Net Web API and Entity Framework. Client side tools of choice are Knockout JS, JQuery for web apps and Jquery Mobile, Sencha Touch and Phonegap for mobile apps.

Darren was the brains behind Stat Sense - and the founding member and back-end developer of the AngelHack DC win in Fall 2012. He has spoken at MoDevEast on the technical approach and considerations needed when building Cross-Platform HTML5-based mobile apps.
